A 54-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police died because of COVID-19, making it the second casualty within the power because of the an infection, officers stated on Sunday. The ASI labored with the Finger Print Bureau (FPB) of the Crime Department in Central Delhi’s Kamla Market space, they stated.

An ex-Military personnel, he had joined the Delhi Police on November 1, 2014. He hailed from Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh and was residing at Naraina village in west Delhi, police stated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Sanjay Bhatia, stated the ASI was examined for coronavirus on Could 26 on the Woman Hardinge hospital after he complained of fever and cough. He was discovered constructive for the virus on Could 28.

He was admitted to the Military’s Base hospital in Delhi Cantt and died on Saturday night, Bhatia stated.

Earlier in Could, a 31-year-old constable posted on the Bharat Nagar police station in north-west Delhi died of COVID-19.
